Creator terms
Last updated: 5 October 2026
These terms apply to anyone who sells designs through Vibe Card. By agreeing to these terms you accept them. They cover what we do with your artwork, how you are paid, what you can and cannot do with our brand, and what happens if something goes wrong.
These terms are between you and Vibe Card. "We" and "us" means Vibe Card. "You" means the creator. Our legal details are in section 16.
1. Your artwork is yours, and it is not used to train AI
Two things matter most, so they come first.
You keep the copyright. Uploading a design to Vibe Card does not transfer ownership. Your work stays yours. We get a licence to print and sell it, described in section 4, and nothing more.
Your data, images and artwork are never used by us to train AI models.
When you upload a design, we use AI-powered tools to help create the information needed for your listing, including the title, description, categories and search terms that help customers discover your work.
This process uses OpenAI's API. At the time of writing, OpenAI's policy is that data, images and other content sent through its API are not used to train or improve its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in. We do not opt in to this.
Your data, images, artwork and any notes you provide are processed only for the purpose of creating your listing information. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring, subject to its current data retention policies.
We regularly review OpenAI's policies and any changes to how its API handles data. Protecting your work, your intellectual property and your rights as a creator is important to us, and we will update these terms if anything changes that could affect how your content is processed.
We will not opt in to anything that allows your data, images or artwork to be used for AI training without first updating these terms and telling you.
Your artwork is not sent to any other AI service, and it is not used to generate other designs.
If you do not want your artwork processed this way, do not upload it. We do not list a design without cataloguing it, because that is how customers find it.
2. Applying
You must be 18 or over. We review every application and may accept or decline it without giving a reason. One creator account per person.
3. What you promise about your designs
- You own the design, or hold a licence that allows you to sell it commercially through us.
- It does not copy or infringe anyone else's work, trademark, likeness or rights.
- If any part of it was made with AI image tools, you say so when you upload it, and you hold the rights to use that output commercially under the tool's terms. You confirm this on the upload form each time you upload a design.
- It contains nothing unlawful, hateful, or that targets a person or group on the basis of a protected characteristic.
- You have ticked the explicit box if it contains swearing, sexual content or adult humour. We rely on that flag to keep adult content away from people who have not asked for it.
If any of these turn out to be false, sections 11 and 12 apply.
4. What you allow us to do
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-bearing licence to:
- Print your design onto cards and sell them through Vibe Card.
- Show it on the site, in search, in emails to customers, and in our marketing.
- Create preview images, such as mockups showing it in an envelope, for display only.
- Send it to the cataloguing service in section 1.
- Crop, resize and reformat it for printing and display. We do not otherwise alter the artwork.
The licence lasts while the design is listed, and for as long as needed to fulfil orders placed before you withdraw it. Non-exclusive means you can sell the same design anywhere else you like.
5. File requirements
Designs must be uploaded as JPG or PNG, square, at least 1819 pixels on each side, which is 154mm at 300dpi. The outer 3mm on every side is bleed and will be trimmed. Keep type and anything that matters at least 10mm inside the trim: we print what you upload and do not check this, so it is yours to hold. The upload form shows a bleed overlay so you can check the bleed. We may decline files that do not meet the size and format above.
How many designs you can list. New creators can list up to 50 designs. The limit rises as your cards sell: 75 at 10 sales, 100 at 25, 150 at 50, 200 at 100, 300 at 250. If you have more strong designs than your limit allows, ask us from your upload page and we will look.
6. Review and listing
We review every design before it goes live. We may decline a design for any reason. We may ask how a design was made, and we may decline or remove one where AI use was not declared.
Declined designs are deleted 30 days after we decline them. Keep your own copy.
Listing text. We write the title, description and keywords for your design, because search placement depends on them. You can suggest changes and we will consider them, but we keep the final say.
Placement. Where your design appears in search, browsing, trending and the homepage is at our discretion. We do not guarantee visibility, position or sales.
7. Commission
You earn commission on every card sold carrying your design.
Rate. The standard rate is 20% of the card's list price. Cards are currently £3.69, so £0.74 per card (rounded to the nearest penny).
Your own rate may differ if we have agreed one with you. The rate you are actually paid is shown on your earnings page, on every statement, and against each sale. Where this section says 20% it means the standard rate; where your agreed rate differs, your agreed rate is the one that applies.
The rate is never cut. Commission is paid on every card sold, at the full list price of the card: £3.69 including VAT, excluding postage. What we offer a customer is ours to pay for, and never comes out of your commission:
- A card discounted in a multi-buy earns you the same as a card sold at full price. Every card after the first in an order is 10% off for the customer, and you are paid on the full list price of each one.
- A card given free through the 10 Club earns you the same as a card the customer paid for. The customer paid nothing for that card, but you designed it and we printed it.
The basis is the list price, VAT included, and it does not change with VAT: at the standard rate that is £0.74 a card.
What counts. Every card printed and posted, including cards you buy yourself. You are a customer like any other. See section 9 on ranking.
What does not count. Cards refunded in full. Cards on cancelled orders. If a refund happens after you have been paid for that sale, we deduct it from your next payment.
What customers are looking for. We show every active creator a board of cards customers have described and could not find in the shop, grouped and counted, without anything that identifies the customer. Designing for it is up to you, and nothing on the board is a commission or an order. A design you make for it is uploaded, reviewed and listed like any other, and earns the rate in this section. When it matches what customers asked for, we may email them to tell them it is in the shop.
Your rate never falls. We hold this as a principle. Any change to commission is announced with 30 days' notice by email, and it never reduces the rate of a creator already on Vibe Card: one we approved before the change takes effect. A lower standard rate applies only to creators we approve after it takes effect. Your own rate stays as it is, or goes up.
A challenge reward is a temporary uplift above your rate for the period or sales the challenge states. When it ends, your rate is unchanged.
Founding creators. If we approved your application before 1 April 2027, you are a founding creator. A founding creator keeps the launch rate, 20% of the card's list price, for as long as you sell with us, whatever the standard rate becomes later. No change ever takes a founding creator below the launch rate.
You are responsible for any tax due on what we pay you.
8. Payment
Your earnings accumulate in your creator account. Sales made in a calendar month become available on the 1st of the following month. On the 1st of each month we pay your available balance if it is £10 or more; anything below that rolls over to the next month. The exception is your final payment after you close your account, which is made whatever the amount. Payments are made through Stripe, which means you will need to complete Stripe's identity checks and provide bank details when you are approved. Each payment comes with a statement showing the cards sold and the rate applied to each.
The commission rate that applied when a card was sold is the rate you are paid for it, even if the standard rate changes later.
9. Ranking, and things that do not count towards it
Cards you buy yourself earn you commission, but they do not count towards your sales figures, trending position or any ranking. Buying your own cards to climb the rankings does not work and attempting it is a breach of these terms.
You may not create fake accounts, use multiple creator accounts, or arrange purchases whose purpose is to influence ranking rather than to send a card.
10. Our brand, our customers, our cards
The Vibe Card name and wordmark are ours. You may say your designs are sold on Vibe Card and link to your listings. You may not use our name, wordmark or logo in any other way, present yourself as our employee, partner or representative, or suggest we endorse anything beyond the designs we list.
Customers are ours. You do not receive customer details, and you may not contact customers, direct them to buy from you elsewhere, or use Vibe Card to promote another shop.
Printed cards are ours to sell. You may not resell Vibe Cards, buy them to sell on, or reproduce our printed product.
Listings are ours. The titles, descriptions and preview images we create are ours. You may not copy them to use elsewhere.
11. Removing a design
You can withdraw a design at any time from your dashboard. It comes off the site immediately. Orders already paid for will still be printed and posted, and you will be paid for those.
We may remove a design if we receive a credible complaint that it infringes someone's rights, if it breaches section 3, or for any other reason we consider sufficient. We will tell you what we removed and why. You may appeal once. We may accept or decline the appeal without further explanation.
12. Ending the relationship
You can close your creator account at any time from your creator settings. From that moment your designs come off sale and out of search and browsing, and they stay off. Anything a customer has already ordered is still printed, posted and paid to you.
Your account stays open to read for two years. You can sign in to see your earnings and statements and to download the original artwork you uploaded. We keep paying you on the 1st of each month as section 8 describes, and your final payment is made 30 days after your last card is posted, whatever the amount. During that time we may still refund a customer and deduct the commission, as section 7 describes.
Closing is final. If you want to sell with us again, that is a new application, which you are welcome to make at any time. After two years your creator account is deleted: designs nobody ordered are deleted with their artwork, designs that were ordered are kept without their artwork because order history points at them, and your customer account is unaffected.
We may suppress your listings from search and browsing, remove designs, or close your account if you breach these terms. We will tell you what we did. If we close your account for breach of section 3, we may withhold commission on the affected designs to cover any loss we suffer.
13. If a claim is made about your design
If someone claims a design you uploaded infringes their rights, and the claim is justified, you will compensate us for any loss, costs or damages we suffer as a result, including reasonable legal costs. We will tell you about any claim promptly.
If you are not sure you own the rights to something, do not upload it.
14. If your work is copied
By another creator on Vibe Card. If a design on Vibe Card copies one of yours, report it from that design's page while signed in to your creator account, using Report a copy, or email hello@vibe-card.com. A person looks at every report. Where a design has been copied from another creator on Vibe Card, we remove it within one working day of the report. We remove first and ask questions after. The creator whose design is removed is told what we removed and why, and may appeal under section 11.
Somewhere else. If your work is copied somewhere else, tell us and we will support you. We can confirm in writing when you uploaded the design to Vibe Card, which you can use as evidence in your own complaint to the site or seller concerned.
If you are not a Vibe Card creator. If you believe a design on Vibe Card infringes your rights, email hello@vibe-card.com with the design, your evidence of ownership, and your contact details. We remove first and ask questions after. The creator may appeal under section 11.
15. Emails about running your shop
When you join, you agree to receive occasional emails from us about running your shop: uploading, tagging, what customers are looking for, and payouts. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn them off at any time in your creator settings.
